Master glassmaker Michael Hunter started his career at Wedgwood Glass in 1974, eventually setting up Twists Glass Studio in 1998 with his wife Sue. Mike's work has been exhibited all over the world including in top museums including the Victoria and Albert, and he's won several prestigious awards.
In recent years Mike has started to branch out, and much to the delight of collectors has started to make a very small number of paperweights. These are made only on the few occasions when the furnace isn't in use for art glass.
The paperweights incorporate many different techniques including torchwork and millefiori, all of very high quality. Mike's closepack millefioris have made a particular impression with paperweight collectors and these have been eagerly snapped up almost as soon as we've received them!
We've just received this stunning collection of weights from Mike. As always the canes are packed ultra-closely. This is done be a technique that Mike has recently developed and is almost a signature of his work. In particular we'd draw your attention to the new swan silhouette that's used for the first time in 3 of his weights, and the ring of clown canes in the 2010-6. All are 1 of 1 and so are unique. They have Mike's MH cane and his Twists Glass sticker to the base.
As many of you know Mike seldom makes paperweights, concentrating instead on his world-renowned art glass. We expect these to sell as quickly as usual and so if you'd like one you'd better hurry!

This is an unusual design which Mike has named Crown Puzzle. It's special feature is of course the split twists that have latticinio inserted between them.

This unusual magnum weight has a blue and white latticinio centre encased in clear glass with two lizards entwined on the outside. It has Mike's cane as well as being scratch signed to the base.
